1998 Upper Deck Game Jersey Peyton Manning

I have been buying 1998 Upper Deck Game Jersey Peyton Manning RCs whenever they are available for a reasonable price. Here’s why:

  1. Peyton Manning is an all-time great. I think most people would rank him as a top 5 QB of all-time. In general, I prefer to buy legends. And in football, I try to stick to QBs. This card checks all of those boxes.

  2. This is one of Peyton’s rookie cards. In general, I try to stick to RCs.

  3. Peyton remains in the spotlight - he has several TV commercials, his own show, and likely will have commentating roles in his future.

  4. Upper Deck is top-tier brand and this is an iconic issue, particularly for basketball. Jersey cards from Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan fetch huge sums. See below for some recent comps on Kobe cards.

  5. This card is scare relative to Manning’s SP Authetic RC. Let’s compare the combined PSA and BGS populations across the two cards

    • SP Authentic: 2103 (the card is numbered to 2000, so clearly there has been some cracking!) (as of 3/14/21)

  6. The card is relatively cheap. Compare recent comps of his SP Authentic and Upper Deck Game Jersey cards in BGS 9.5
